Fort Lauderdale

During the Second Seminole War, the leader of the United States detached soldiers Major William Lauderdale built the first fort in Fort Lauderdale. As more and more forts built by them, the region is so called Fort Lauderdale. However, until at the end of the war, the Fort Lauderdale began to develop. It took more than 50 years after the abandon of the forts. There were three forts constructed and named as “Fort Lauderdale”. The first fort was at the New River, while the second fort was constructed between the Rio Vista and the Colee Hammock. The last fort was near the Bahia Mar Marina.

In the 1960’s, the Fort Lauderdale was a good place for students to take spring break. From that, chaos began to last for twenty years. Public drunkenness and hedonism are the norm for the Fort Lauderdale. However, residents decided to recover the Fort Lauderdale to her origin. Therefore, more police began to monitor the safety of the streets.

Nowadays, the Fort Lauderdale becomes a famous tourist destination. She is regarded as “Venice of America” because she has intricate andexpansive canal system. The canal system also facilitates the Fort Lauderdale becomes a major yachting center. In 2006, there are 42,000 resident yachts and 100 boatyardsandmarinas.
